Rashes that don't disappear under a glass

Dd2 is 4 years old. Twice she has been rushed in by gp for a rash that doesn't disappear under pressure but both times just been a virus. On three other times it's happened and I admit I haven't taken her to GP as she hasn't been unwell with it.
Last times we were at GP the rash was pretty big and she told us to come back if it happens again.
I noticed this week, another load on her neck.
Anyone know what it could be?

Ds gets these. They vary between huge marks, often over 1" wide, to tiny little spots, usually on his ears and temples. Sometimes they spread rapidly-you can actually watch them coming out until they cover the whole body. They can be blue-bruise like, or bright red.

He's never been noticably ill at the same time as having them, and although he's ended up with blood tests several times it's always been a viral rash. The GP now knows that he gets them.

He's got a patch on his ear at present. I think he's just pre-desposed to them, and it doesn't worry me unless they're spreading rapidly or particularly huge.

I was told by A&E one time that generally spots are a latter symptom of meningitis so if they're not seeming ill then it's not meningitis.
