Thermometers

Can anyone recommend a reliable type of thermometer for babies? We've got the Calpol ear one which was expensive but gives wildly varying readings (2-3 degrees difference between ears is typical so you don't know what to trust). I haven't successfully used the digital strips, but maybe wasn't doing it right. Any thoughts?

I use the Braun ear thermometer. When readings are really critical I measure both ears three times and take the average as I was advised by paeds nurses.

Ah that's a good idea. Perhaps then our Calpol one is ok. But I'll check out the Braun too. Thanks
