help with 4yo dd who chokes/gags on snot

poor dd struggles everytime has a cold with snt choking her until she gags.is struggling to blow nose properly to ease problem and rarely coughs either
its awful when she just suddenly starts to panic and retch till its in her mouthSad
any ideas gratefully received

You have to teach her to blow her nose properly (I know it is hard I have a 7 yo DD who is the same). Blocking one nostril for her and make her blow (not to hard).
steam before might help too, hot showers,....

What can help is sterimar spray to clean her nose (or any other marine water spray you can find).
Or there is a DIY technic with a spoon: warm tap water with 2 spoons of salt, mix it, feel a soup spoon of the mix, under one nostril block the other nostril and sniff it up, spit the result in the sink and do as many time as necessary.

If she really struggle and the snot is yellow or green or actually any colour she might need antibiotics and you need to see the GP. especially if she has a slight fever with it.

she rarely has green snot,but its always so thick and glue like
often has temperatures with it but rarely "out of sorts" iykwim-just clingy cos scared snot gagging her
has missed nursery a few times now as too frightenend to leave my side
