Teething or something more?!

Hi there my DS (8mo) has been teething for a little while. His bottom 2 teeth came through a few weeks ago, but nothing since then. However he has a really sore bum (nappy rash) and really runny poos (sorry tmi?!). It is literally as if the food/milk comes straight through....quite gross (especially on saturday when I was letting him get some fresh air on his bum while we were having an outdoor picnic and he was sat on my dress!!! Wink) Anyway - wise mumsnetters.....do you think this sounds more than teething? He is happy, healthy and not noticably losing any weight. He isn't off his food at all either - just gets a little cranky at night (typical man though I guess!!) and he has hot rosy cheeks. What do you think. Give it a little longer and see how he goes? Or a trip to the GP? WWYD??

I think teething... my DD gets rash, poops, cheeks, and weirdly a hacking cough which once lasted 10 weeks, and I kept taking her to the docs and they kept sending me home saying 'it's teething, not on her chest' ... I would prob pop to docs though, just to put your mind at ease...

Thanks so much....he is at the docs for a seperate issue on Friday....so I may mention it. He is quite unsettled at night again...so think some teeth are going to make an appearence again soon. Unless it's the light nights which are messing him up?? Who knows...?? This parenting lark is a bit of a guessing game eh?? Poor wee might. :(

I know, you can never be sure of anything as a parent!

DD had nappies like battery acid when teething. Was excess saliva.

Hi there, I remember my boys going through the same thing! You are not alone. Their poor little bottys really suffered, neat little trick I found was to slap a load of sudocrem followed by talc poweder to lock it in rather than wipe away on the nappy, that night they would sleep through and wake up sans rash on bottom! Hope those little toothy pegs come through soon xx

Oh thank you karlahine...I'll try that after bath time tonight and keep my fingers crossed for the little bambino. good to know it's quite normal. A lot of my friends said that it wasn't this bad with their DC's....so was a little worried. But you have now put my mind at ease. So what do you reckon - aonther 6?, 8?, 10? or 12? months????? Bloody teeth. Ha. Think he'd look cute to have a gummy smile all through his life if you ask me!!! Wink
