Dry baby scalp = cradle cap?

My 6 week old has developed some thin patches of dry skin on her scalp. It's flakey and white like dandruff. Is this cradle cap? Will it inevitably develop into the thick crusty yellow type of cradle cap?

It's not inevitable.
Some babies have dry skin on their scalps without it ever becoming so bad.
My DS had a dry flaky scalp for a couple of months, but it was never a problem and I never bothered to treat it any way. It just cleared up on its own in time.
