My 9 year old dd fell last year and lost half of her front tooth - it's her adult tooth. Dentist said nothing permnent can be done till she is at least 16 so he put a temporary filling on, that lasted an hour, back next day and he did it again, this one has lasted just over a year, she had a fall on saturday landed on her face and the temp filling came out. We have just returned from the dentsit he has re done it but says as it's the 3rd time he has done it it won't last as long, the more you do them the less they stay on basically and it would be a waste of time keep re doing them.
So I questioned the fact that when/if it comes out again is she expected to go through the next 7 years with half a tooth, it is obviously noticeable and I can`t imagine what it would be like when she hits her teens.
I understand what he is saying but is there any other treatment she could have? Dentist is talking about a veneer in her late teens, which could last a life time, a veneer at 16 would need replacing in her 20`s and a veneer at her age is out of the question - he thinks she will need braces too at some point and braces don't stick to veneers very well.
he was scaring me a little saying if he did too much now the tooth could fall out and that would mean a false one on a plate.
Any one know of any other treatment? I did the same but I was 16 and eventually had veneers in my 20`s and had no problems with them but am sure a crown was also an option at the time?
