Nappy rash

My son still gets 'nappy rash' despite not having worn nappies for nearly a year.

Is this normal?

It's not severe, but does require cream every couple of weeks.

How old is he and how good is he at wiping his bottom?

Gracie123 · 17/03/2012 19:56

He's four, and I'm afraid I still wipe his bottom Blush

He has ASD and fine motor isn't a strong point. It's not near there though. It's sort of spread over his entire bum cheeks, right out to where the nappy line would be if he wore one.

The weird part is that it's actually further out than his little y fronts go. Confused

Wiping a 4 year olds bum is perfectly normal, well it is in our house anyway. The nappy rash is a bit odd though. Having said that I sometimes have to use a bit of metainium on DDs bum, it can get a bit sore when she's had to wipe her own bum at school.

are you sure its nappy rash, it could be one of the many forms of eczema, dd bottom and girly bits used to get sore now and then and found it was her underwear, if it was new and we had not washed them she was 3 at the time, we got cream from the doctor, made sure everything was washed prior to wearing and never had a problem since..we found puting calamine lotion or cream on the area helped prior to finding out what it actucally was
