Anyone with these symptoms recently?

My DS started with early morning cough on friday and spiking to 40 from afternoon.Temp will go down to 39 or 38.9 with calpol and nurofen.Went to GP and then A&E in the middle of night for fever was adviced as viral infection it will settle down on its own.It was same on saturday.From Saturday night 9PM no fever.he was fine all sunday and monday.So I sent him to school on Monday afternoon.From tuesday morning he is having dry cough and clear running nose.Went to GP,adviced as viral will be there for atleast 2 weeks.
Still coughing,don't know what to do:(

In our case DS1 had pneumonia and his only symptoms were a dry cough and high temperature. He was also very lethargic, struggling to walk any distance and falling asleep in the daytime very easily. His temp didn't really stabilise though.

I would say that all you can do is what you're doing, medication and calling /visiting drs whenever your instinct is to do so. There's a lot of it about and they seem neverending!

My ds had this a few weeks ago, called out of hours gp in the middle of the night and was in tears when they said he'll be ok, just keep up fluids! He was ill for a good 5 days but did ge better and the cough continued for a further 6 days! He still has a runny nose, but that seems constant! Hope this helps!
