Need dental advice - DD (11) had braces fitted yesterday and she looks like jimmy hill

Surely that can't be right can it? She looks so different, like a diff child. Her bite is very out hence the top and bottom braces for four months but will she end up looking like that permanently? I think we would both prefer an over bite

i likened DD2 to Brucie when she had hers. i too prefer her with her overbite. thankfully they didn't work very well so she still looks like her.

i think the brace is to force the jaw to an extreme, so when it is taken off it is somewhere in between.

Thanks that's reassuring. Not sure why I'm so concerned really as she went to school without them today. How did you make your dd wear hers?

no idea. she just did. even when her teeth ached she still did. she just really wanted her teeth straighter.

bribery? hard cash?

and they are much better now. officially she could stop now but she still wears them much of the time as they stop her sucking her thumb (particularly at night) and she doesn't want to go back to sucking it all the time and pushing her teeth back out.
