Scarlet fever? Do you have to have 10 days antibiotics.

Can anyone give me some advice please.

Dd was taken unwell Friday so we took her to see out of hours doctor on Saturday he diagnosed severe tonsillitis & a viral rash & prescribed 7 day course of ethrythromycin. Found out this morning Dds friend has scarlet fever & Dds symptoms fit perfectly with that diagnosis, (fever, sore throat, head ache, off food, nausea & the rash). Do I need to take her to the gp to get more antibiotics? She is a lot better, temperature is within normal range, eating again etc, but she still has the spots and needs 3-4 doses of painkiller a day to keep headache/sore throat at bay. (Obviously as I'm not a doctor I'm not 100% certain she has scarlet fever, but I'd bet 100-1 that she has). If she doesn't get the 10 days recommended on the nhs website is she likely to get ill again, when this course runs out?

Why don't you give the GP surgery a call and explain this to them and then your GP can make a suitable decision and if needs be extend the course.

Thanks. Rang gp & they said as she's improved a lot just keep an eye on her, but then said yes they would normally give 10 days for scarlet fever, so bring her in if I think she needs it. I'll probably take her on Friday if she's still needing painkillers by then.
