Please can people give me their honest views on if they use medised for their under 6's! Me and my friend were having a discussion and she still uses it for her daughter and always has! Her daughter is 5 but she had used it since very young! I'm aware age has changed but not ingredients, am I right to be dubious about using this once in a while??

I've given calpol for a cold if they seem in pain or miserable

I give Calpol, not for the cold itself (obviously), but for symptoms like fever or pain which can go with it.

I take paracetamol if I feel rubbish and with a baby they can't communicate what exactly they are feeling so in my humble opinion it's fine to give calpol etc. guess some parents abuse that though.

Apparently medised is getting withdrawn?!

Personally I wouldn't give any OTC medicine to a child younger than the recommended age. If it is prescribed by a GP that is a different matter as they can make sure doses are right etc.

I would only give Calpol if a small child is feeling utterly miserable and other methods of relieving discomfort have not worked.

I take paracetamol if I feel rubbish.

If you have kept a bottle of Medised since before the age restrictions changed, chances are you are now giving your child a medicine past its sell-by date. For that reason alone, I wouldn't do it.
