Is this a reaction to Amoxicillin? Alternatives?

Ds (21 months) is on his 3rd chest infection of the year, and his 3rd lot of Amoxicillin. He always has bad poos when he has it, which I kind of expect, but he seem to also be hyper when he has it. When he is ill with a chest infection it completely wipes him out, but he will fight sleep and when he is asleep is very restless. He just seems all over the place.

I just wondered if anyone had come across a reaction to amoxicillin, and if they had did their gp give an alternative?

Ds may have to be prescribed a daily antibiotic as a prophylactic against the infections, so don't know if I'll cope with them making him hyper!

DD has never had any reaction to it but one of the side effects is supposed to be insomnia, according to the leaflet. There's quite a few penicilin-based ABs out there, so aways worth asking your GP. Unless it is the penicilin that makes him hyper. Sorry, am not being much help.

Ds did react to it but it was with a blistery rash.

DD reacted with a rash too.
Her notes are now marked that she is allergic to amxicillan and is prescribed others ABs - sorry can't remember the name.
