If Piriton makes DS hyperactive will all other antihistamines be similar?

DS is 4 and has chickenpox. Gave Piriton last night in the hope it would help the itch and also help him to sleep. I know it can cause hyperactivity in some people. Not sure whether or not it did but it certainly didn't make him drowsy - gave it around 8 and I don't think he slept till nearly midnight, and then not very well.

Well, Piriton makes DS1 extra hyper (he has ADHD, anyhow) and cetirizine (zirtec) sends him pretty much psychotic. Not pretty.

The only drowsy making antihistamine that actually has a calming effect on him is the one in medised, but you're not supposed to give that to under 6s.

For seasonal allergies, we give him loratadine. That's the only one we've tried in the summer that doesn't transform him into a raging ogre.
