she was slightly sick in the toilet before bed- just like a bad reflux not proper vomit.

her eye is still blurred

am worried.

please talk to me. do i let her rest or get her checked out?

Can you call ooh?

DDs just started getting these and we've been told its migraines but she's 11 and it's hormone related but your DD seems young for that.

There is no harm in getting her checked now. Better safe and all that.

ifancyashandy · 08/03/2012 21:08

Could be a migraine? Does she want to lie still, in the dark?

countrybump · 08/03/2012 21:11

It sounds like a migraine, but I'd get her checked out. Call NHS direct or out of hours?

noonar · 08/03/2012 21:17

i get migraines. the blurred vision lasts for half an hour which is typical, i understand. it usually precedes the headache afaik. hers has lasted 2 hrs plus

thanks for replies

just did nhs direct symptom checker. if you enter headache and blurred vision is says go straight to A and E. she is now asleep... dont know what to do

noonar, I agree with NHS Direct. Take her to A & E, if only for peace of mind.

Hope she's OK.

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 08/03/2012 21:39

Sounds a bit cruel but could you go wake her up? Just to see if she's responsive. If she's easy to wake and coherent maybe she will be ok just to see what the morning brings if you can't wake her or she's worse then take her to a and e. Or least go check if she feels warm. Would be worth running symptoms by ooh though . :)

eggtimer · 08/03/2012 21:40

A and E

Stinkyfeet · 08/03/2012 21:46

And I'd take an overnight bag for you and her in case she's admitted for observation.

Good luck and do keep us updated if you can.

noonar · 08/03/2012 21:49

the blurred vision is whats worrying me. i dont want to over react as the symptoms are mild, but collectively they are worrying. dh thinks she'll be fine. i am such a worrier at these times, i find it hard to know what to do tbh

OP posts:
seanbonbon · 08/03/2012 21:50

I'd go to A&E, for peace of mind more than anything else. Better safe than sorry and all that Smile

seanbonbon · 08/03/2012 21:55

Anytime I've brought mine to hospital it's been for reassurance more than anything. You sound worried - go with your instinct. Always better to get them checked out than sit up all night worrying.

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 08/03/2012 21:56

Go to A&E or OOH, they are going to understand why you've brought her in. I'm sure it is a migraine but they are the best people to diagnose it.

moojie · 08/03/2012 21:56

What pain relief have you given her? The fact that she is now asleep could mean that the headache has subsided. I would second gently rousing her to see what she is like now. If you are still worried then A&E or the OOH GP would be a good idea. Sounds most likely to be a migraine especially if no fever.

Stinkyfeet · 08/03/2012 21:57

It is the collective symptoms that are worrying - why don't you ring NHS Direct and speak to someone. If they tell you to go to A & E, please go, and at least it might convince your dh that it's not just you being a worrier Smile.

noonar · 08/03/2012 22:33

we just woke her up and dh has been trying to get her to laugh at his jokes so as he can assess her state. she is obv feeling quite a bit better and is responding to him. i have spoken to nhs direct nurse at length and feel reassured. i will sleep beside her tonight and monitor things. i feel that it would be best to let her rest. thank you everyone. i feel less anxious now.x

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 08/03/2012 22:54

Hope she's better very soon :)

Stinkyfeet · 08/03/2012 22:58

Glad she's feeling better now. But if these symptoms recur please go straight to A & E just in case there is something more serious going on.

Hope you all sleep well tonight.

noonar · 09/03/2012 11:00

just popping in to say a big thank you for your support last night, folks. dd slept better than I did! and she seems her usual self today. am so relieved x

Glad to hear it :o Pleased she's ok!!!!

cheekyginger · 09/03/2012 22:51

Hi Nooner, hope your LO is back to normal.

I would get her checked at an optician. They can have a good look at the health of her eyes etc. And give you advice re the blurred vision/migraine etc.
