Worried about DS 4.5yrs weight

He is a terrible eater. He has got gradually fussier as time goes by, and now barely eats anything. His current repertoire is bread products (bread, crumpets, wraps etc), fish fingers, chicken nuggets/breaded chicken, potato smiles or some other "potato shape", sausages, yorkshire pudd, apples, grapes, raspberries, strawberries. Occasionally he will eat a banana, and under duress will sometimes eat a little broccoli or carrots. He used to love pasta and baked beans (not together!), but now refuses those too.

We Have tried various tactics to get him to eat a healthier array of food - reward charts, bribery, withdrawal of treats/snacks etc but nothing seems to work, so I end up just cooking him what I know he may eat, and even then he often doesn't eat much of it.

He has had some sort of virus/bug for the last week, and has barely eaten a thing, and I noticed tonight how hideously thin he looks. I am seriously worried. I have an appointment with GP on Monday for him. How can we get him to eat better and gain some weight?

What does he weigh ??

Zeeky · 08/03/2012 20:56

2st 6lb and has done for over a year. He's always been small for his age since about 18mths, but never properly skinny.

Should also add that he will only drink apple juice & drink loads of it every day!
