Storing calpol

YouthworkersWife · 08/03/2012 19:03

I've been storing the calpol in the cupboard in the bathroom, but a friend looked shocked at this and said it needs to be stored in the fridge. So, two questions:
1)Have I been doing it wrong? - Is it still safe to use this bottle?
2)Won't the syrup get very thick and gloopy in the fridge? Or even crystalise?

Thanks in advance

YouthworkersWife

P.s. what about cough syrup -is this the same?

Thats ridiculous I have a 6yo dd and have NEVER kept calpol in the fridge!!

The only drugs I have ever kept in the fridge are antibiotics when the pharmacist has told me to put them in the fridge!

Your friend is wrong.

Well its not in a fridge where you buy it is it?

I keep mine in the cupboard too, as did my mum with me and everyone else I know. Never had any problems. I shouldn't worry too much.

Be interesting to know though!

Cool dry secure cupboard is best & recommended
Fridge is not ideal because in theory kids can access it

Thank you all,
I shall continue to store it in the cupboard then (which is good, as I don't have space to store an entire pharmacy in the fridge!).
