DS is 4 this month and I'm worried about his slow growth and general health. He's around 25th% for weight and 2-9th% for height (two conflicting measurements). He's shrimpy compared to both male and female peers, wears 2-3yr clothes and his feet haven't grown for at least a year.
He also complains of being tired all the time, has sore legs, bags under his eyes, copious soft poos and mouth ulcers. The tiredness, irritability and pallor have become more pronounced over the last 6 months.
My recent research makes me think he might have coeliac or some other intolerance/allergy. We saw the GP yesterday where he was measured and I talked through my concerns. She reluctantly referred us to a paed; I think she was more likely to take a wait and see approach, but I expressed my suspicions about coeliac, which thankfully she took seriously.
I'm mainly concerned about timescale now. I know we could have had the bloods done at GP, but now we're in system so I have no idea when we'll have any answers. And what if I'm wrong? What if it's something else? Or, he could just be small. That's OK, I just want to make sure that if treatment is needed, we do it ASAP.
And one more thing: I feel awful if it is coeliac. I've been hard on him recently about walking and being tired. I haven't had much sympathy and have really lost my temper with him about his complaining. It's so hard to know when things are just toddler behaviour or if they are an actual problem.
