I've tried looking on here and googles it, but can't find how long u can be contagious before spots come out.

We saw a friend last fri (so 1 week ago) and today her DS has come up in spots. Is it possible my DD 25 weeks could have it :(
Thanks. I'm worried xxx

I think it's only a couple of days before the spots come out. Remain infectious until the last spots have crusted over.

they are infectious for 1-2 days before the spots appear and until they crust over.

I think a couple of days too. But don't worry, my DS caught chicken pox when he was 5 mths from his DSis and he sailed through it. It's much easier to get out for a breath of fresh air with a baby than a toddler as you don't need to worry about them freaking out about not being allowed the all important turn on the swings!

I always thought it was around 24 hours.

"Chickenpox is most infectious from one to two days before the rash starts, until all the blisters have crusted over (usually five to six days after the start of the rash)."
