HI
Ds (5) has an ear infection he has had a horrid cold all week, and then last night his temperature went up and he was screaming in pain with his ear. He now has yellow discharge coming out of his left ear. He is having antibiotics and nurofen and calpol . He is still crying in pain is there anything else that can help relive it . I have also tried hot water bottles but he said it made it worse. He is propped up in bed at the moment after only having two hours sleep last night.

Sounds like the ear drum may have perforated. I would perhaps take him to dr's he may need some antibiotics

Oh sorry didn't read you already had ab's.

Hi my dd unfort gets a lot of ear infections, unfort there isn't a lot more you can do, when my dd is in a lot of pain I alternate between calpol and ibrufen (which it sounds like you are doing already) plus lots of tlc and cbeebies. Hope he feels better soon.

Have you been to the doctor since the ear drum burst? Because they sometimes want to take a swab of the stuff.

Generally if it's burst then ds is in a lot less pain (relieves the pressure), so I'd probably want it checked just for that reason.

Poor boy.

I would phone the Drs to tell them about the discharge.

Hi thanks
He has had calpol or nurofen alternated and he has had sudafed.
I have phoned the drs and they are ment to be calling back. He has had it happen before and had grommets put in when he was 17 months but it always seemed better after it burst.
