Amoxcillin and milk - 8 month old been vomiting for 5 days, is Soya the answer?

My 8 month DS started vomiting on Tuesday and continued all through Wednesday. We then took him to the DR who prescribed Amoxcillin for an ear infection that was causing the gastro.
Things did improve marginally, he defineltely seemed more comfortable with the antibiotics but he's still vomiting quite a lot and it seems to coincide with us trying to give him milk, we have reduced the quantity of milk offered and doing the formula half strength to see if that helps, but he's still bringing most of it up. He's barely eaten in days, and most of it seems to come straight back up. We have reduced the amount of Amoxillin but increased the frequency so he's not having such a big dose at once (on chemists advice).

He;s also got a cough which seems to bring on the vomiting - any advice for that? We've got the cot propped up - are those vicks humidifiers any good?

I'm a bit worried as he's hadly getting anything in him apart from water and a few bits of food, so am thinking of trying some soya milk formula?

Would this help?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi miss...I haven't had the exact same experience, but my 11mo son has been suffering with vomiting bugs for a while (just started nursery), and the cows milk formula always seemed to make him puke. He then had ongoing diarrhoea, so i switched to soya milk formula and it really helped. He is ill again now and has on/off diarrhoea, but so far (touch wood) no puking. Oh, he also has a nasty cough (goodness knows what's wrong with him at the moment, it's been going on for ages!), and I have found that, with food, little and often seems to be the key. He has brought his food/milk up from a coughing fit when he has had quite a big feed. HTH.
