Help...any thoughts on what i should do?

Am home alone with 11mo son who has a terrible cough (not a worrying one, touch wood, but just constant). He is so tired and just wants to sleep but he can't. I have been in to try and sooth him and offered him food and water, but if anything this seems to make him more upset. He is in there now moaning/crying on off with each cough (at the moment coming every 5-10 seconds). he'll have patches of 10 minutes with nothing and then it starts up again. I have the humidifier on, but it doesn't seem to be making a difference. What should I do??

Hiya, maybe he also has a sore throat & so the cough is hurting it? Wondered if you had given any calpol or nurofen? Might help, poor sausage, it's awful when they're feeling so rotten....

oh just remembered have you tried the having him in bathroom while steaming taps on?
and does he like baby massage.

im sorry im crap,mine are older and i remember them doing this but it seems like so long ago.

put vicks vaporub (or equivalent) on the soles of his feet then put socks on, will help him breath a bit easier and stop the coughing

Yes, I think it must be a sore throat (I'd have one, too with all that coughing). I've just managed to get the best part of a dose of calpol in him so hopefully once that kicks in he will be at least a little less bothered by the coughing. I put Vicks on his feet before bed but might do that again-it's just I think that undressing him to get to his feet would really upset him (he's going through a stage of hating being on the changing mat!). And unfortunately he loathes baby massage!
And why are kiddy cough medicines so useless!!
