Black vertical line on teeth?

my 11mo son has 8 teeth and a week or so ago I noticed what looks like a really fine dark vertical line on the side of two of them. I initially thought it was from something he ate (either his actual food or the remote control) but it is still there. I make sure he uses that chewable toothbrush thingy every day, but I admit I didn't get on top of his tooth brushing perhaps as early as I should have done. Also when he was ill recently all he would eat/drink was baby squash, which I don't normally give him. I'm really worried this is a sign of problems with his teeth, although it doesn't look like the beginnings of a cavity. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you take any medication whilst pregnant?

Could be too much flouride but doubt it.

Take him to the dentist and get a check to be sure but vertical lines don't sound like decay - although I'm not a dentist Wink.

My son had a creamy stain on one of his upper canines (it's still there now) and I got it checked out. It was because I had a course of antibiotics during pregnancy and it effected the enamel development= so nothing to really owrry about.

Thanks for the message, loopy. I didn't take anything while pregnant. I have an appointment at the dentist so hopefully he will shed some light (and fingers crossed it isn't a cavity!)
