Anyone resorted to the antibiotic injection?

I am at my wits end with trying to get my 17 mo DS to take oral anti-biotics (I have another thread in this topic about it) and am considering the alternative.

From what I have read the jab is horribly painful and GPs do not like giving them to small children.

Does anyone have any personal experience of this?

when ds had pneumonia and rejected the liquid antibiotics we went back to the gp who prescribed us the capsules. we broke them open and mixed them with jam or nutella (what toddler can resist a spoon full of that!). it was either that or go back to the hospital for iv antibiotics...
