DS has 3, one very large. I have been freezing them at home, and finally took him to doctors as it wasn't doing any good.

She said to carry on and what I was doing was no different to what she would try.

Is there really no other solution? The big one is starting to hurt him....

I took DS2 (he was 7 at the time) to the chiropodist. She gave us some different liquid to put on twice a day. It worked.

Nail Varnish, applied several times a day. Honestly it works, i found an old thread on here as my DS also had a couple, we've been doing this now for just over a week and they have shrunk down to almost nothing and almost gone. Ive also read that duck tape works too.

I went to chiropodist and she said nail varnish was the way forward, she said any colour was good and that was half the fun!

Ok here is the ultimate cure for warts and verrucas I kid you not!! I've had loads so has dh and dd! Get some apple cider vinegar soak a cotton wool ball in it and tape it to verruca overnight and cover with sock overnight. Repeat every night. After few nights it may sting slightly. Will go within a week!! Usually goes very black around the edge and the whole thing peels right off!! I didn't believe it would work when my aunt told me until I tried on DHS awful mass of verrucas but it did and its soooo much cheaper than stuff they sell in pharmacys!

I used a pale pink (as that was all i had) but the old thread i read said a dark colour, im guessing so that if blocks out light.

The dermatologist told us duck tape too. We've been prescribed formaldehyde to soak the feet in - so far to little avail. Am now sorely tempted to try nail varnish as ds is limping really badly (verucca is in the middle of the sole of his foot - wince)

Rooble · 22/02/2012 18:25

Ps dermatologist said don't freeze them: because they grow inside rather than outside (as a wart would) the liquid can never access the whole verucca, so will never zap it

I wish I'd known about the nail varnish trick, ds has just had a humdinger and it lasted months, poor thing. Dr said to leave it so we applied that Bazooka stuff and waited, waited......waited......Finally fell off this week.
