my dd gets red and sore privates. It happens about once every couple of months. Wht can cause it. She wipes properly under supervision.

Mine too and complains about it being a bit sore. I am afraid I revert to nappy cream and have found that the bottom butter works well for her as I tell her it is special mummy cream as it looks different to the nappy cream I use on ds.

It could be a urine infection or eating too many acid foods. I know of one little girl who has problems if she eats too many tomatoes.

I do treat it with nappy crem and it does settle quickly. I am not sure if I need to take he rot the doctors

Both my DDs (4 & 5) have the same problem. I started giving them zinc supplements following a recommendation on here and it improved no end. They still have occasional mild problems which are normally dealt with using sudocrem and another lecture about wiping properly.

zinc supplements? Any brand recommendations for children or do I just go to boots?

Also does dd wear pj's or nighties? I alternate so that she gets some fresh air to her bottom at night time. However I appreciate that this works as she is in the main dry at night time.

I give them some chewy Bassett ones (Vit C with Zinc) that I get from Sainsbury's. Think they're supposed to be from 6yrs but figured they'd be alright for a little younger. Have tried the kids specific ones but the DDs didn't like them!

Mine wear nighties or PJs at night - the nighties are fairly recent but haven't seemed to make any difference either way.
