Taking 9 month old DS to doctors again tonight! Am I missing something?...

DS, 9 month old has not been himself for about 5 weeks now. He started off with a cold in the middle of January, this appeared to clear up, he was fine for a couple of days, then I had him treated for a chest infection and was prescribed anti-biotics, same pattern, appeared to be getting better...then followed diaroheaa, appeared to be getting better.... then a sickness bug and now back to a cold again. He seems to be getting a temperature with every "bug" maybe once a week. It seems he has a bout of illness, is getting back to himself then picks up something else. He has not eaten properly throughout this time, sometimes clamping mouth down for spoon and only eating yoghurts although he does have days when he eats a lot and picks on things the others days. If he doesn't eat much he seems to make up for it in milk during the night. Am I missing a trick, could this be teething? Or the same bug for all this time or is he unlucky picking up all sorts? Any suggestions?
I feel so sorry for him he is such a happy little fella when he is on top form and it just seems to be one thing after another! He was a good sleeper and that is all pearshaped now too. ANyhow I am back at the doctors again at 530 tonight, he has run a temp again today and is wingey, just wondered if this was unusual I guess, I'm running out of ideas?

At that age they do seem to get a temperature with all "bugs". My older 2 had a bout where they seemed to go through 2-3 months with one bug after another dd1 was just over a year, dd2 was just under a year when it happened. Then they have not been ill much since.

Oh poor little guy! Is it teeth perhaps? Every time DS1 had a new set of teeth come through he was like your DS for a good for weeks before hand

I know people say this and teething isnt related but i'm really not convinced

I can remember hardly leaving the house for what seemed like months with one of mine when they were that age. One bug after another, it will pass. I used Minadex to try try to build them up, its a vitamin tonic which helps them build up the appetite. It may be worth a try. I give it to mine whenever they are a bit run down it seems to help.

Few weeks, not for weeks

Thanks everyone for your responses. I've been to the doctors again and she gave him a good check up, chest is clear, she said she thought his ears were a "bit sticky?!?!" and that could be causing him pain but she didn't want to prescribe antibiotics. Also thought it could be teething because he was chomping on hand and teething ring whilst we were there and had rosy red cheeks. SHe said, like you SardineJam,that although there is no medical evidence illness and teething is related she often finds it is the case! I can't see any signs of teeth, but we will see! She also said it was quite common for them to pick up one thing after another at this age and said for me to go back tomorrow if he gets worse overnight. He's asleep at the minute dosed up on calpol. Thank you so much for your messages, it is reassuring to hear this is not uncommon. x
