Dd has cough and cold and temp. At what temp would you take 1yo to GP? And at what temp would you call out of hours rather than wait until morning?

We had to get urine sample when she was week old and several since but has got increasingly difficult now she can't just be held over a sterile bowl.

Hospital did cotton wool for us too but gp horrified I suggested it. Should have just done it anyway without telling gp.

when you use cottonwool be careful you don't contaminate the sample with your hands, so either plastic gloves or very clean hands. Our paed consultant also doesn't like cotton wool hence the many hours I have spent waiting for the deed with a sample tube at the ready.
