dd2 14 months very dehydrated

dd2 has a sickness bug - since Friday

she brings back up all food, and any milk (other than boob)

dp took her to GP yesterday and GP has suggested to stop boob and offer flat coke,

her nappy over night was dry and shes really sleepy this morning

dont know what to do :( im offering her boob and dioralite and shes not really bothered by either and certainly not drinking enough

A and E. if she is dehydrated and still not taking liquid I am afraid she needs to be seen in hopsital.

I'd forget the doctor and go straight to A&E - she probably needs IV fluids if she can't keep anything down.

A&E and give her the boob as much as she likes. it is the perfect composition for her.

Please, please don't take away boob, especially as it's the only thing she is keeping down. I'm afraid your GP has given you very, very poor advice. Offer boob as often as possible. Have a read of this and if she is showing of the signs mentioned then take her to hospital. Do continue the nursing though.

Has she peed yet? If not please call GP again or go to A&E!! She might even just need a couple of hours on a drip to rehydrate her. Good luck.

Only did you read the link? Did she have any of the symptoms in the list where it advises you to get medical help?

Once she's better I would write to your PCT and suggest that their GPs have better training on bfing and include a print out of the link.

Agree that he is a cock too and I was once given the same advise by my GP who had been a Paed before he became a GP .

Am now very, very at your GP. Did he actually say that you are doing it for your benefit only? Has he not heard of the WHO guidelines on Bfing? I would seriosly write to your PCT and ask why their GPs are givng out advice that contradicts the WHO guidelines.

Someone on here might be able to give you a link to the guidelines, in the meantime please remind your DH that
"bfing is recommended for a MINIMUM of 2 years". Please get him to read this as well.

Try to ignore all this though, concentrate on your DD and getting lots of milk into her, you can talk to your DH later about why he would want to deprive his daugher of the only thing she is keeping down when she is sick.

On Monday I spoke to a GP at the same surgery who told me that me Bf was distracting her from taking the dioralite

Oh FFS, why is dioralite better than bm? Does diorallte contain antibodies for starters? Would love to hear their thoughts on that one.

Dioralytes... Get some in your DC. You can buy at the pharmacy. I went to a and e with mine when he was 11 months old with the same thing. I had to make up dioralytes and syringe 10ml into his mouth every 10 minutes. He managed to keep 10ml down, any more and he'd vomit.
