Any ideas what I can give myDD, she's really hurting trying to poo, and producing little hard droppings after the effort. Been this way for a couple of days now and worse today

Prune juice, raisins, and make sure she is drinking plenty of fluids. Pop to the pharmacy tomorrow and ask for advice and some lactulose. If nothing happens by Monday take her to the doctors, who may be able to give her an enemy to get things moving.

I asked the chemist for some lactulose as poor DD struggled a lot with this. She suggested I give her some orange juice with a little sugar. The sugar is important! It has really worked for her and easy and convenient to use.

Oh yes, agnes, think it was brown sugar? My sister used that and said it worked well.

AgnesBligg · 04/02/2012 02:09

Yes freddie, I use brown sugar. I'm not very scientific about the proportions but the chemist said that OJ and (tsp?) sugar is the same as lactulose. It works for us.
