Singulair timing

My DS(8) has recently been put onto a chewable tablet of Singulair for his asthma. We are struggling with the timing of him having the tablet as it :
Must be taken 2 hours after food (i.e. on a empty stomach)
Or 1 hour before food.

I've been told to give him the tablets at bedtime. Which basically means we have to rush giving him an early tea, so that by 5.45 he has finished eating. That way we can give him the tablet at 7.45, before teeth & bed at 8.00pm.

What time do other people give the tablet? My friend suggested giving it to him when he comes out of school, as he will have an empty stomach at that point.

Any info/advice would be appreciated.

MY DS has been started on the granules today and been told to have it at the same time each day so I would imagine when he gets in from school would be fine. Can you phone your consultant/asthma nurse to check?

I'm on singulair and haven't been told to take it on an empty stomach (runs off to check packaging), just to take it at bedtime.

My DS2 had Singulair chewable for a couple of years - he had dinner @ 6pm, bedtime 8pm and he'd have it just before he brushed his teeth.

It worked brilliantly well.
Don't give straight after his dinner and he should be fine.

Ds who is 13 has been taking singulair for 2-3 years now, always takes it at bedtime. Don't worry about the empty stomach, ds would rarely have an empty stomach when he takes it. It has transformed his life, geat stuff!

DS3, also 8, never has an empty stomach - I swear the boy must have a tapeworm or summat . Yet, Singulair still worked.
