hi everyone im just after a bit of advice, my daughter is 5 and at the moment wears glasses and has an eye patch for a few hrs a day.recently she has been having quite a lot of accidents mainly at school, last wk i was called twice once for a bumped head/ear which was quite badly bruised and once to say she had fallen and bust her mouth and nose open the next day. her teacher has said she is concerned by how clumbsy she is compared to the other kids and said maybe it was to do with her eyes, the next day my daughter had her eye app at the hospital and i told them about the clumbsiness and they said its nothing to do with her eyes as they are improving, im getting quite worried now is she just a clumsy child or should i take her to the docs to get checked out, any advice would be appreciated thanks

Hi Kaceybrooke,

If the staff at your eye clinic are happy with her treatment/progress etc, i would tend to believe them.....
However, are the accidents happening when she has her eye patch on? If she doesnt have a squint then wearing the eye patch will make a difference to her depth perception/3D vision. Therefore children can found to be less co-ordinated when the patch is on. The patching is important for her vision, so this needs to be carried out as prescribed. But could be avoided during sports and playground time.

The only other thing to consider is any family members with dyspraxia?

I agree with ginger, but if this gets worse and you start to also see problems with balance it would be worth getting her checked out by a paed. in your local hospital - just got through A&E and wait.
