Baby with chesty cough

Morning. DS is 21 weeks, he started with a chesty cough yesterday and he's a bit tartly when he breaths. He doesn't seem upset by it and doesn't have a temperature, but the cough does sound horrible.
Is there any point taking him to the GP, or will they just tell me to give him Calpol and ride it out?

Please take him to the gp just to get him checked over.

I would suggest taking him to the GP just to be certain. If his cough irritates him at night, rub some baby vicks on him, hopefully will offer him better sleep at night.

Thank you very much.
I took your advice and took him to the GP, he has an upper respiratory infection, which sounds a lot worse than it is. Basically some phlegm in his throat that he can't clear because he's too little, but it'll go by itself in a week or so.
It's worse when he lies down so he's in our bed tonight, so I can sit him up to cough if I need to. Any excuse to have him snuggled beside me! Smile
Thanks again x
