Gastroenteritis...help!

my DS (10mo) got gastroenteritis from his nursery last Friday. The symptoms have been largely just diarrhoea with just two episodes of vomiting on Wednesday. Yesterday he seemed to be improving, and ate a couple of really good sized meals, plus a good amount of formula. Last night he was restless and this morning he's obviously suffering from griping stomach pains which seem to come and go.
I feel like we were improving and now have gone back a stage and I really don't know what's going on.
Oh, I got it too-wasn't sick but had really bad cramps for 24 hours and a bit of diarrhoea. I assume he's getting the same kinds of griping pains but I don't understand why that's happening now, after he seemed to be improving. Is it because it's the first time in a few days he's had food in his tummy to digest?

Any thoughts gratefully received!

It's not uncommon for it to seem to improve and then take a step back again.
Don't worry too much.
There's not an awful lot you can do other than keep him hydrated and let it run its course.
He should be better in a couple of days.
Good luck with it.

Thank you Ruth. I'm sure you're right. Very frustrating in the meantime though!
