Should I keep DS2 off playschool?

DS1 has got impetigo and the GP said to keep him off school until next Monday. He was meant to be back yesterday so is having an extended christmas break.

DS2 goes to playschool 3 times a week. Mon, Wed and Thurs. They didn't open until today.

The GP told me that it can take up to a week for the impetigo to appear. I am a bit worried about sending DS2 to playschool for him to then get it and give it to the other children and the staff.

Should I keep him at home until next week or just send him in and hope he doesn't get it?

Thanks

No I don't think you should worry, send him in, chances are he might not get it anyway.
Unless of course your like me and use any excuse to keep them home with me ;0) lol then a few days won't hurt at home in case!

Are they only contagious when the sore appears or just before?

Kayzr · 10/01/2012 20:41

Ok I think I will take him in. I'll explain about the impetigo and if they want me to take him home I can do.

I am being very scrupulous with everything but then I find them wrestling or cuddled up together and I wonder if my cleaning is a waste of time Grin

Camper Apparently they are very contagious just before they appear and until they have gone crusty. DS1's are just going crusty but its on his lower eyelid and it was red before the sores appeared.
