How we cheered a few weeks ago when she finally passed the 10kg mark!

Now, after a week of what we suspect is norovirus, she back to hovering just above 9kg. She's had diarrhea for 5 days and been vomiting on and off since Tuesday morning but hasn't eaten more than a taste of anything of any consequence apart from rice milk since last Saturday evening when presumably started to feel peeky.

She is now rather pale and delicate-looking but still has bags of energy (less than her normal livewire state though). I've been a little worried in the last few days when she's hardly peed in three nappy changes, but since she is having frequent nappy changes there may only be 1-2 hours between nappy changes.

How much weight do you think it acceptable for a child of this age/size to lose? She's lost nearly a kg, which in a larger child would be a smaller proportion of body weight. I just don't know whether to seek medical attention, bearing in mind that they really don't want norovirus patients anywhere near medical facilities.

I think your dd needs to see a doctor. You can have a telephone appointment if you aren't sure whether to take her to the surgery.

That is a lot of weight for a tot to lose especially as she is small to begin with
