Teething and temp

was just wondering if teething can cause a raised temp. Little one felt reallyhot so checked and temp was 39.3 which I didn't think it would be that high. He's dribbling and pulling ears. Bit clingy and irritable but that's all. Not obviously I'll. Gave him brufen and he's giggling and playing again and drinking plenty. He's 18 months old by the way and I'm expecting the last 4 teeth anytime soon. He had 4 teeth by 4 months old and he's suffered with every one of them.

I have read up o. It but just wondered what other people's experience was with it.

If he is pulling his ears it may be worth getting him checked for ear infection especially with the high temps.

Yeah good point. He gad gastroenteritis a few week ago and they were clear then, but that was then. He's wolfing toast down now his brufen has kicked in and watching that forsaken baby tv (grits teeth) still he loves it lol.

No. As a nurse from NHS direct confirmed for me "all you should get with teething are teeth". If DS has a temperature as well, he is ill. But if you give him ibuprofen and he seems well, that's fine too, just monitor him.

If he has a temperature that you cannot control, treat it seriously and take him to a+e. Every year there are a few children who end up seriously ill because their parents put their symptoms down to teething and do not seek help in time.

DS is 22 months, and has most of his teeth, the only time he had a temperature was when he had hand foot and mouth disease at the same time! Oh, and the time he had diarrhoea it was confirmed as rotavirus.

Thanks sprinkles will definitely monitor him. He's gad one thong after another just lately. His temp is down now so hoping alls well. I wondered if he had rotavirus but never got a result from his sample at hospital. He's fine from that episode tho poor little thing.

Hand foot and mouth was ok actually. Blisters where you'd expect them plus bum balls and thighs. Generally snotty etc. didn't really eat for nearly a week. My dad caught it though and was very very ill.

Crikey. Hope everyone's ok now, sounds crappy.
