Diarrhoea in 11 month old

DS has had diarrhoea for 7 days now :(
Last Tuesday (the first day) I thought it was just teething so I just carried on as normal with food but offered more drinks.
Wednesday he was no better so I did very plain food, and things seemed to get much better so on Thursday I went back to normal meals ( but nothing too exciting - porridge, steamed fish, broccoli and potatoes). Well his poor stomach obviously wasn't ready and he had the runs again, so I took him to the doctor first thing Friday.
She was happy that he wasn't dehydrated, no temp and as bright as a button so said just to stick to plain food.
Well I have, and he's honestly no better at all :(
I'll be taking him back to the doc tomorrow, but I'm wondering whether I should be getting him seen before?
He's weeing plenty, not being sick, no temp. He's just pooing 12 times a day!
Sorry, that was long....

Have you tried the BRAT diet? Bananas, rice, apple, toast. Although I give my ds bread not toast as toast without butter is miserable. Ds1 would get an upset tummy, then be okay, I'd reintroduce light food and it would come back. After another day of the BRAT diet he would be okay.

My ds1 had the runs with teething. So much poo... everywhere... Huggies are good at stopping it coming up the back.

Thanks Spanky, I would say the bland diet in giving is BRAT inspired, but not pure BRAT! So I'll stop putting butter on the toast and stop giving chicken and see if he improves. How long did diarrhoea with teething last for your DS? 7 days just seems ages...

Tbh it was until the tooth erupted. Try Ashton and Parsons teething powder. I used to get it at the pharmacy counter at Morrisons. Teetha powders are good too. God knows what is in them but it used to calm him down and make things more solid. He also had gruesome nappy rash. Metanium was the best for that. His teething poos smelt different to a normal one, and weirdly his brother's teething poos smelt the same. It didn't smell like an upset tummy. Can't really describe it, but have smelt other teething babies poos, and they smelt the same. Yikes that is something I wouldn't usually admit to!

Just seen a comment on another thread - "All you should get with teething is teeth". We're going back to the docs tomorrow, definitely.

Sometimes viral induced diarrhoea goes on for 7 days because it takes 7 days for the villi in the gut to repair. So fingers crossed it will stop by tomorrow! If not what you are doing re plain diet and dr appt sound like a good plan.
