omeprazole for reflux

Has anyone used this? How long does it take to work? DD is 5 weeks and has been suffering nasal congestion which has gradually been getting worse. She was seen by an ENT Friday and diagnosed with silent reflux. He prescribed omeprazole but I've not noticed any difference as of yet. If anything the congestion is worse and she was very unsettled from 4pm-12am last night. Has anyone used omeprazole for their babies reflux?

No, we were prescribed Gaviscon in every feed, either mixed with breast milk and taken before a feed or simply into the bottle if bottle fed. Dd had bad reflux and it worked really well. We had to keep it up for a year. Mind you, it was 6 years ago so advice/treatment may have changed.

I guess different things work for different dcs. DD moved onto omeprazole at 5 mths when ranitidene wasnt having much effect, and I did think it helped her. We were able to wean off all meds at 10 mths. She had bad nasal congestion at 5 weeks too, like your dd - you're lucky to have got such an early diagnosis, I had to fight for weeks to have her symptoms recognised. Good luck - reflux is tough, but it does get better eventually Xmas Smile

Hello, we used ranitidine and gaviscon with DS from 2 days old right up to weaning which sorted it out really.

Sorry I can't be of anymore help x
