4 year old won't swallow / eat

My ds has always been a ok eater, he had a sickness bug on Friday (I think - he was sick anyway). Since then he's not ate much (to be expected I suppose). But the past few days he's been spending ages chewing his food - over 30 mins he had a scotch egg in his mouth and then spat it out! Today he came home from school and hadn't eaten any of his packed lunch, so I let him pick what he wanted for tea. He picked chicken dippers, potatoes and sweetcorn/peas. He spent twenty mins chewing a bite of dipper and wouldn't swallow it - in the end he spat it in the bin. He took another bite and the same happened, so I threw the dippers away and said to eat his pots and veg. He then chewed his potatoes for 20 mins and when his dad said to swallow he spat it all over kitchen floor.

I'm getting worried, he's not eaten anything since Friday hardly. Any advice? :-/

Have you had a look at his throat? Does he have a fever?

If he's drinking and not massively underweight to start with then the lack of food isn't really a problem.

The cause of it might be if its something like tonsilitis for example but I'd expect him to be ill with that iyswim.

Could he have ulcers / blisters in his mouth?

How old is he? Ds is 4 and is able to say if he isn't eating cos he's not hungry / has a sore tummy / feels sick / has a sore throat etc.

Ps is he drinking ok?

He's 4, no fever etc. When I ask him why he just says he doesn't like it , spits it out but then takes another bite Sad

If he's same in the morning I will. He did eat 1/2 (nearly) bowl of cereal in the morning - forgot about that!

Well today he ate 1/2 bowl of cereal (half a baby bowl) and that's it. Not eaten packed much or drink either. Teacher said he was chewing on something but spat it out everywhere Sad took him to mcdonalds indesperate hope. He ate a half a small portion of chips.
