DS is pulling at his ears, poking them and hitting himself on the side of the head, so I think he may have earache.

He's also vomited twice today, spectacularly at 3pm, all over the cot and floor, and then again at 6pm. Having only had toast and water in between.

He also had a hideous runny poo, that leaked out of his nappy and all over the carpet etc, and which smelt particularly toxic. Which made for a 3rd poo today, although the others weren't so diarrhoea-like.

Do I need to do anything along the lines of phoning OOH doctor? Or should I just give him calpol, try to keep him hydrated and hope it passes?

He had an ear infection (both sides) 2 weeks ago, so I'm really hoping it's not that again.

Does he have a fever?

Ds is 4 and has just had diorrhea and vomiting and a sore ear (which turned into an ear infection but wasn't to start with iyswim?).

If no fever and he's ok in himself I'd wait a while, if a fever then I'd get him checked out esp given his past history. I'd also get him checked out if he was showing signs of dehydration or was in a Lot of pain.

Oh I think definitely go to the doctor but you could try calpol, nurofen for babies tonight and see how he is overnight.

I wouldn't leave it if he has a troubled night though or develops a fever.

Good luck Smile

I'm not great at using the ear thermometer on him, but it read 37.2 so I think he's fine for now.

I'm trying to get him to drink lots, but he's gone off drinking a bit (and totally off of food).

I'll leave him for the night and see how he is in the morning.

Thanks :)

If he's got a fever then he may well be vomitting with that. Ds used to vomit with an ear infection, but it was definitely related to the fever.
At that age he had an ear infection (r double ear infection) every 10-14days until he had grommets put in.

When you're taking his temperature make sure you pull his ear back so you get it in properly. Doctors regularly tell me dc's temp is 36/37 and when io show them how to take it properly its 38/39!

Does he feel hot? Is he playing?

If he's very unwell in himself I'd definitely get him checked out and keep him with me tonight.

Certainly medicate if he seems to have some pain.

I agree about the ear thermometers. You need to angle it right, pull the ear back gently while you insert it, they often hate it but it gives you a more accurate and usually higher reading.

Poor mite.
