DS (12) had a possible epileptic fit at school

DS2, who has ASD, fainted at school today, hit his head and had a fit. He came around after 30 seconds or so and was shaky and very hot with dilated pupils. He seemed pretty much back to normal after 30 minutes when I got to school. I was told to take him to the doctor but the doctor said to go straight to A & E.

After 2 1/2 hours ( not good at waiting Grin ) the doctor at A & E couldn't tell me much. It may have been an epileptic seizure, it may have been some other sort of fit (can't remember the terminology) to do with lack of blood to the brain due to the faint. He isn't poorly, his temperature is normal. He's never fainted before. They have just said keep an eye on him, if it happens again they'll do EEGs and blood tests.

He's going to have a smashing black eye. Any advice or hand holding gratefully received.

No advice, I'm afraid, but posting to say that I hope he recovers quickly. It must have been a big shock.

You can have seizures which are not epilepsy. My youngest son has had at least one. The seizure is actually a non-harmful way of jolting the body back into action after a faint. My other son does have epilepsy and leads a normal life (on meds). Either way, you have my total sympathy but he will be ok. It is probably worse for you. These things are horribly scary.
