Oral thrush - reassurance needed

My six year old son has just been diagnosed with oral thrush. He's had that coughing virus that everyone's had (for weeks) but no antibiotics or anything like that. If you look up oral thrush online (I know... bad idea) it's all quite scary suggesting that only babies or immuno-compromised folks get it. My GP said basically that yeah, it's unusual but they're not too concerned unless it recurs. I am concerned Xmas Confused He's also autistic and very controlling about food etc so I could hardly get the first dose of anti-fungal into him... After a night with very little sleep I'm feeling extremely fragile. Can anyone tell me stories of how their healthy children have had an unprovoked (not anti-bs or steroid caused) bout of oral thrush?
