Last week my partner had a high temp/ really bad chills, muscle ache and cramp, headache and just a general unwell feeling. Lasted about 3 days an I got it yesterday. I had all the same symptoms, a temp of over 39 degrees and felt absolutely horrendous for just 14 hours. I'm well now and my daughter has started shivering and has a high fever. Should I b worried or does it just sound like a virus? Im obviously concerned about the fever and have that under watch and controlled with paracetamol. I'm abit of a worrier. Thanks. X

Sounds like a nasty cold. I wouldn't worry Smile

Sounds very much like a virus. You don't say how old your daughter is but in general terms unless her temperature hits 40 I wouldn't worry unduly. Just keep her in cool clothes, not cold though, and keep fluids up.

There's a lot of nasty bugs around at this time of year.

Oh yeah sorry, she's 3 and her temps not right up just raised. It's a pretty nasty little bug whatever it is. It only lasted for a little while but I just felt completely 'out of it'. I thought it was probably just a virus, will keep an eye on her over night and hopefully it will pass as quickly as it did for me. X

Tbh even if it hits 40, as long as it comes down with medication and she doesn't have any scary symptoms, it's not a big deal. Young children can run really high fevers with minor infections. I've noticed that DD (2.10) tends to get a temp a degree or two higher with the same bug as her 9yo brother or us- for example last winter they both had a flu and DS was around 39 degrees and she was 41!
