hi. ds1 (3 years old) sufferer's with bad nose bleed's about once a month. my dad keeps nagging me suggesting i ought to take him to the doctors. is that necessary? also wondered if his steroid inhaler might be doing it? he has moderately bad asthma. what do think?

Hi, my DD gets dreadful nosebleeds quite frequently, although touch wood we've not had one for a while. I only took her to the dr after a friend who is a paediatric nurse told me to! The dr gave her an Antibiotic nose cream which worked straightaway. TBH she is a picker and now she is 5 she understands not to do it.

thanks for that. will see when the next one comes and then perhaps pop him to see gp. his come randomly, not a picker, but they do seem to run in my dh's side of the family. thanks again.

No probs. My DH used to get bad nosebleeds too and my other daughter does get them quite often, especially if she has a cold. But DD2 's are the worst and really pour, sometimes taking 15 mins to stop. I am sure she picks at it at night as quite often they start at night so her nose wasn't really getting a chance to heal. I was scepitical about the cream but it worked straightaway.

Some children just seem more predisposed to them than others.
