Should I get second opinion on this rash?

Ds1 has been covered in an itchy rash since Saturday on and off.
He's had a chest infection and doctor was not sure what this rash was - whether it was related or not. Have googled common illnesses and tested for meningitis. Does not look like any of these.

Has anyone any experience of this?
Does a rash often follow a chest infection?
Have made an appt for later this pm, but not sure if I'll cancel it or not.

Has he had antibiotics for his chest infection? Some, such as amoxycillin, can cause an itchy rash but then I would have thought the dr would have come to that conclusion? Hope he's feeling better soon

Thanks louby.
No antibiotics given.
Wish I'd been there. It was dh and he said doctor looked 12 years old! I still trust what he said.

He's been soooo distressed when the itching is bad. And why did it come, then go, then come back, then go? Odd.

I would take a picture, especially if its coming and then going and then put some calamine lotion on (works for most itchy rashes) or a dose of piriton dependant on age and how uncomfortable he is.

Ds gets rashes with viral infections. Usually they look like the meningitis rash, but sometimes it is raised an itchy. He's had blood tests several times and only come back with viral infection.

Oh... and they are very on and off. He can look covered, then half an hour later it pretty much gone and then later come back again.

Thanks. Have taken pics of it, great idea. it's not half as red as before but still there.
I thought it would have been viral, but Dh said doc was unsure.

He is singing very loudly, so clearly on the up for now!

Have you googled slapped cheek? The rash from that can come and go. May be a coincidence that he also has a chest infection too.
