Milsd eye infection in 4 month old

Does anyone know if can get an over the counter treatment for conjunctivitis for my 4 month old? Its the 3d time he's had it and I cant find the blasted drops the Dr prescribed him last time. It's mild at the moment, but in the past, if I didn't catch it early, it got worse. I dont want to have to take him to the GP unless I have to (and its Sunday today) and was wondering if I could use Brolene or similar to treat it quickly and nip it in the bud. Its just in the one eye at the moment. Any advice gratefully received!

I don't think you can because he is under the age of one. If he has had conjunctivitis so many times already, I would think he needs to be seen again by the GP in any case.

I got an over the counter treatment for it from the chemists yesterday. The chemist had to look at my eyes and officially diagnose it. Not sure if they can for babies as well.

Do you breastfeed? Breastmilk might help until you see a doctor.

no sadly i don't breastfeed. i will take him to the gp tmrw if it looks worse. poor little thing has a cough and cold too on top of his gunky eye :-(

Until you can get the med try pure chamomile left to cool and then wipe the eye with that.

it is probably the same virus causing the cold symptoms. (rubbing snotty noses into eyes..as in) even bacterial eye infections are pretty mild and will clear with simple cleaning with boiled cool water. camomile sounds quite soothing too.

OTC eye ointment/drops are not sold for babies under one. Its not safe either to use old medication.
