Is this just teething or should I get him checked out?

DS is 6mo.

Last night was the worst night he's ever had.

Went down fine at 6.30pm as normal. Woke at 11pm. Into bed with me and on off feeding until about 1.30pm.
From then on he wouldn't settle. Felt hot to the touch, but not overly so. Didn't want feeding/ dummy/ cot/ bed/ held/ lullabies/ ocean sounds (the usual techniques, one of them usually works). Tried chamomilla granules, teething gel and finally calpol. None made a difference.
Drove around block at 4am, and he dozed off, only to wake as soon as I stopped the car.
He whinged on and off and finally went off at 5am but needed constant rocking as he was stirring every couple of minutes. He slept solidly form about 6am for an hour or so.

He's had a feed and some toast this morning, but still a bit whiney. He gone to sleep with no problems, doesn't feel as hot.

He's had quite a bad nappy rash for a few days... creams not making a difference. This morning I have noticed spots around his mouth, then on his hands. Now he has spots popping up all over...little pimple type spots.

Does anyone have any ideas or could it just be all down to teething? I've called the GP's and they are calling back.

If you are worried it's best to get him cheched out even if it is just to set your mind at rest. What did the GP say?

DD (nearly 6 months) hardly slept Wed and Thir nights and now has a sliver of a tooth peaking out!

Hand foot and mouth disease? (not nearly as bad as it sounds!)

Or just some kind of virus with a viral rash?

Teething can be rotten, but the rash is odd for teething imo...

I wouldn't hold off so long on the calpol tonight!
