Have also posted in pets.

I think my cat has worms, he has been sick and i found a worm (sorry if TMI), i am now panicking that me and the dd's may have caught worms. Is it ok to get the medicine and worm all of us even if we dont hae it? are there any nasty side effects from the medicine?

I would talk to the pharmacist about using it preventatively, - my guess would be it's OK to do that. But do make sure you get the right stuff, most over the counter things are for threadworms, your cat is likely to have roundworms so you do need to discuss with the pharmacist, - I think you can get a combi thread/round worm tablet.

Don't know about side effects, - I've only used the threadworm stuff, and IIRC it wasn't too bad.

Oh and worm the cat obviously Grin - I think the vet stuff is better than over the counter stuff. (unfortunately more expensive)

Thank you, have been to get the tablets for us and stuff for the cat (loads of running around), the kids seem ok as does dh, i seem to be the only one having symptoms but we will all have to be treated. Luckily it wasn't to expensive. Have washed all bedding, towels, cushion covers and floors.
