dd with severe stomach pain

dd2 has been suffering with really bad stomach pain for about 4 days now. This is not accompanied by a fever, sickness or any bowel problems but has been so bad she has been writhing with pain and being kept awake at night. I have taken her to gp twice now who have ruled out everything. They have tested urine, taken temperature and checked her tummy. She seemed to be improving quite a lot today and was asking to go to school tomorrow but now i have noticed a hot rash on her arms. Really weird, it's nowhere else and I've obviously done the glass test. I am wondering if this could be slapped cheek syndrome? (come to this conclusion after a bit of googling). Does anyone have any experience of this and if so is there a certain period when she needs to be off school etc? I had noticed her cheeks were red yesterday but that went away. She has not had a temperature at any point. Thanks.

Id take her to a & e

Really? She saw the gp this morning who thoroughly examined her and said she was fine. She is eating and drinking now and seems fine. The rash is not a sinister one as I've done the tests.

I'm just back form the gp with my dd who has stomach pain again after having the same for about a week 3 weeks ago. No rash though, my gp was much as yours, ruled a few things out but no real understanding as to what it is

How does he know its not her appendix? It quite often presents atypically in children.

if she is improving it would be a bit silly to take her to A & E. Hmm

i'd ignore the scaremongering posts

well, didn't take her to a&e. The rash has gone and she seems fine now. Probably never know what the stomach pain was but it was definately there and severe. Hope it doesn't come back Smile

I think I may have got to the bottom of my daughter's pain, we've been treating her verrucas with Bazuka and on Sunday she was chewing her toes, I think she may have ingested some of the Bazuka and am now off to research the duct tape method of verucca treatment instead!

how strange is that. my dd has a very large verruca on her foot which she has had for some time. We have used bazuka with little success so have been using the Scholl removal plasters which seem to be helping. Don't think she's been chewing them, but you never know !
