DD1 has had a high temp since yesterday. The Calpol helped but it was close to 40c as soon as the Calpol wore off so rang OOH last night and spoke to the nurse who gave me instructions on how to control temp etc.

She was very hot this morning. Calpol didn't seem to be helping so I gave 5ml of Nurofen.

Her temp is now at 38c. Is this still high considering she had 10ml Calpol at 7.30 and 5ml Nurofen at 9.30? Should the medications bring it down closer to normal?

Thanks

Its come down well but be careful giving doses less than 3 hours apart because you don't want to have a big gap where you can't give anything (4 hrs between doses of same meds obv and max number doses in 24 hours)

How is she in herself?

Personally with a temp of 40 I'd take her to be checked but that's because ds doesn't run a temp that high unless he needs antib, his wee friend runs temps of 40 with a minor sniffle!

Thanks for the reply.

She isn't great - very thrown down and not chatty which is VERY UNLIKE her. However she is eating and drinking and is coherent.

She isn't complaining of any other symptoms.

Her little sister had the high temp thing earlier in the week but it only lasted 24 hours and was easily controlled. I was sort of assuming it was the same thing now with dd1 but now I am not so sure.

High temperatures are not a common occurence in this house so am a bit at a loss.

Is she peeing a lot? Could be a uti?

I'd get her checked, could also be ears?
